Events
Since our establishment over 6 years ago, the BHDC hosts a wide variety of events, some are annual and some are singular. All work to further our goal to help make Berkeley Heights the most open and welcoming community in New Jersey.
Annual MLK Jr Day of Service
Please join the Berkeley Heights Diversity Council as we gather virtually (again, unfortunately due to COVID concerns) for the 7th Annual BHDC Martin Luther King Jr Day of Service on Monday, January 17, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. via Zoom (Zoom Meeting ID: 869 7770 0579, with Passcode: 587461)
We will host an online celebration (via Zoom) gathering the community to join together to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr King, along with:
-
students from GL Unfiltered,
-
Mayor Angie Devanney,
-
BHPD Chief Jason Massimino,
-
Superintendent of Schools Dr Melissa Varley and
-
Tiffany Escott, Mission advancement and Development Director of the Berkeley Heights YMCA
We will reflect on the impact of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on each of us and on our society.
Black History Month
The BHDC has celebrated Black History Month in a variety of ways - from in person events to online celebrations and resources.
Women's Heritage Month
In 2018, the BHDC created a "Woman of the Week" (WOW) series in honor of the women who are driving change, blazing trails and nurturing society. In the spirit of community, we wanted to honor the women right here in Berkeley Heights who are impacting the world in their own way for the remaining weeks of Women’s History Month.
The BHDC brought back the series in 2021, selecting four more inspiring women who live or work in Berkeley Heights.
And more....
The BHDC continues to host and partner with other groups to create opportunities that honor and embrace the diverse cultures and perspectives within Berkeley Heights. Our goal is to spread awareness and inclusion.
