Lunar New Year Festival Planned for Feb. 10

In collaboration with the Berkeley Heights Diversity Council, the Summit Area YMCA is happy to host the Lunar New Year Festival at one of its branches, the Berkeley Heights YMCA, on February 10, 2018.

The Lunar New Year, also popularly known as the Chinese New Year or the Spring Festival, is also a holiday celebrated by many other Asian countries including Korea, Taiwan, Macau, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Laos and more. The holiday is based on the lunar-solar calendar, and is a time for joyous celebration with friends and family. It is also a time to observe traditions and customs, to honor household and heavenly deities, ancestors, and to ward off evil spirits for the new year.
