Special Event - Black History Month Celebration, February 24, 2019

The Berkeley Heights Diversity Council invites residents of all ages to join our Black History Month Celebration this Sunday, February 24th from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Berkeley Heights Recreation Center (56 Columbus Ave).


Township Council President, Alvaro Medeiros will read a proclamation recognizing the roles played by African-American residents in Berkeley Heights, and expressing the Township’s support for and solidarity with our African-American residents, and then establishing February as Black History Month in Berkeley Heights.


The event will feature something for everyone. Don’t miss out on a guest speaker, Black History trivia, children’s crafts, a terrific collection of books from our own Berkeley Heights library, and a delicious bake sale. The Berkeley Heights Diversity Council: The Berkeley Heights Diversity Council was founded to honor and embrace different cultures and celebrate diversity in Berkeley Heights. Our goal is to spread awareness through education, community events and critical dialogue thus creating an inclusive and welcoming community for all. The Council aims to educate, embrace, highlight and celebrate the rich diversity in Berkeley Heights by bringing the community together through a variety of programs and events. The Council has partnered with organizations, such as the YMCA and Summit Medical Group to promote and celebrate diversity and inclusion through various community events.
